Rights & Permissions

Last Updated: October 16, 2026

This page describes the permissions and limitations that apply to original ACIM Atlas content and distinguishes them from third-party rights.

1. Ownership of ACIM Atlas content

Unless otherwise noted, the original editorial, analytical, visual, and documentary content on this site is:

© 2026 Jay Nicholas

This includes, for example:

  • original prose and editorial content, such as motif definitions, Journey essays, trail and arc narratives, section and chapter overviews, teaching commentary, reflection questions, and practice cards;
  • original analysis and data, such as occurrence-level annotations, salience scores, seed, milestone, and zenith designations, controlled codes, role categories and other taxonomies, corpus-level findings, and the corpus dataset;
  • visual and interactive work, such as charts, visualizations, page designs, and cover art;
  • documentation text;
  • downloadable editions, including the PDF and EPUB volumes and audiobooks;
  • narration recordings produced for this site; and
  • the original selection, coordination, and arrangement of all of the above.

This ownership extends to ACIM Atlas’s own expression and arrangement. It does not extend to words, phrases, or terms that originate in A Course in Miracles.

The motif definitions, the Forgive and Recognize practice cards, the analytical framework, and the instructions that guide the analysis are the author’s own. The Journey essays and other long-form writing began as AI-assisted drafts and were extensively edited by the author, and the occurrence-level commentary and those cards’ Course citations were produced under that framework with ongoing author review. The methodology documents how each part was made.

The commentary on ACIM Atlas reflects the author’s understanding and interpretation of what A Course in Miracles teaches.

2. Third-party works and references

ACIM Atlas is an independent study companion. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP) or the Foundation for A Course in Miracles (FACIM).

This site refers to third-party works, including A Course in Miracles and the teaching of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick, for purposes of study, commentary, navigation, and reference. ACIM Atlas does not claim ownership of those works, names, or marks.

ACIM is a registered trademark of the Foundation for Inner Peace.

All rights in Kenneth Wapnick’s lectures, recordings, and writings remain with their respective rights holders.

Any third-party work quoted or referenced on this site remains subject to the rights of its respective owner and is not included in the permissions granted below.

3. Methodology and framework

The analytical approach, methodological concepts, and general framework described in the ACIM Atlas documentation may be used, adapted, and extended by others without attribution.

This permission applies to the method as a method: the general analytical approach, workflow concepts, pass structure, and interpretive framework described in the documentation.

It does not, by itself, grant permission to reproduce substantial portions of ACIM Atlas’s original prose, documentation text, charts, visualizations, datasets, database exports, page designs, or other expressive site content. Those materials remain protected except as otherwise stated on this page.

4. What ACIM Atlas permits

For original ACIM Atlas content only, ACIM Atlas grants the public permission to:

  1. read, browse, and use the site for personal study;
  2. share links to pages on the site and to the downloads page, rather than reposting downloaded files;
  3. quote brief excerpts of original ACIM Atlas prose, such as a paragraph or two from any one page, with clear credit to ACIM Atlas and a link to the source page where practical;
  4. discuss, summarize, and teach the ideas on this site in your own words;
  5. use original ACIM Atlas content in teaching, study groups, retreats, spiritual direction, and counseling, whether or not you charge for your own time. This includes reading it aloud, showing it on screen, playing its narration, and giving participants printed copies of individual pages, essays, or practice cards, provided the content is not altered and each copy credits ACIM Atlas and gives the page’s address. If you record a session or post it online, link to the pages you used rather than reproducing them in full;
  6. print or save individual pages, provided the content is not altered and the copyright notice is retained where reasonably possible;
  7. download copies of ACIM Atlas volumes (in PDF, EPUB, or audiobook form) and the corpus dataset for your own study, provided that the content is not altered and the accompanying copyright notice is retained where reasonably possible.

Unless required by law or permitted by an applicable exception, you may not, without prior written permission:

  1. reproduce substantial portions of original ACIM Atlas content on another website, platform, newsletter, app, repository, or recording;
  2. republish, compile, or bundle ACIM Atlas content into a book, ebook, audiobook, PDF collection, database product, course pack, workbook, app, or other redistributable product. Handouts of individual pages or cards for your own participants, as described above, are not a course pack;
  3. sell, license, or sublicense ACIM Atlas content, or charge for access to it. Charging for your own teaching or counseling time is permitted as described above;
  4. use automated tools to copy the site or its content in bulk;
  5. present ACIM Atlas content as your own work, or in a way that implies ACIM Atlas is affiliated with or endorses you, your teaching, or your organization.

7. Quotations and shared language

Quotations from third-party works on this site are brief, are attributed to their sources, and remain the property of their respective rights holders.

ACIM Atlas is analytical and editorial. It describes and interprets A Course in Miracles and is not meant to reproduce it. Because the site works within the Course’s own vocabulary and discusses it closely, short phrases may coincide with the Course’s wording. ACIM Atlas claims no ownership of language that originates in the Course.

If you believe a passage on this site reproduces text from the Course or another third-party work, please use the Report an error or concern link at the bottom of any page. Reports are reviewed in good faith.

No permission is granted by ACIM Atlas to reproduce, republish, or reuse the third-party works quoted or referenced on this site.
