Understand the Motifs

Death / Suffering: Death and suffering are beliefs the ego invented to enforce allegiance to separation, guilt, and the false identity of being a body rather than spirit.

Miracle: A correction of perception that expresses love and works at the level of mind, where the mistake was made. It demonstrates that what can change was never real, and what is real cannot change.

T-27.VI The Witnesses to Sin acim.org/acim/en

Pain and pleasure are unmasked as chosen proof of sin, while the miracle becomes the mind’s new witness, guided by the Holy Spirit toward healing and resurrection.

As you read, notice how the themes Death / Suffering and Miracle appear in this section.

Reflect

Which forms of pleasure or pain do I still defend as if they carried different truths about me?

What do you use as your strongest evidence for separation—pain, pleasure, fear, or loss—and what would change if you let the miracle replace that witness with its effects of life?

Practice

Notice one sensation or mood you usually classify as helpful or harmful. Say, “I will not use this to witness for fear.” Ask for the miracle’s effect of life instead.

When you catch yourself using pain or pleasure as proof of separation, pause and say: “I choose a different witness.” Offer the sensation or story to the Holy Spirit and ask for the miracle that shows life instead. Then let your next thought be one of blessing.
