Understand the Motif
Forgiveness: Forgiveness is the release of guilt through the recognition that what seemed to be sin never actually occurred: looking beyond error rather than making it real and then pardoning it.
Forgiveness: Forgiveness is the recognition that nothing real was damaged, whatever perception showed, and that the offense was never real in the first place. By recognizing error as error rather than as a real attack, forgiveness undoes the mind’s investment in guilt and allows it to return to its natural state of innocence. Forgiveness cannot be partial, since a single grievance kept as a sacred exception preserves the whole belief in harm; partial forgiveness only trades one misery for another. It is selective remembering, holding only loving thoughts and releasing all else, and through this release the past is transformed into something eternal because what remains is love. Within time, no function has meaning except forgiveness, for when it is complete, time itself becomes meaningless.

T-24.VI Salvation from Fear · Paragraphs 5, 8-9 acim.org/acim/en
Take the delay out of fear: see him truly and both are released.
As you read, notice how the theme Forgiveness appears in these paragraphs.
Consider the Context
Fear is prolonged by delay: “I’ll forgive later, after I feel safer or more justified.” This stop challenges that habit. Mistakes cannot block God’s blessing, and delay is something you remove by changing perception now. When you judge your brother, both minds remain trapped in the same fearful story. When you see him as he is, release is shared.
Forgiveness is the practical shortening of suffering. It looks past the body to the Christ in him and refuses to treat error as a barrier to blessing. That choice ends the wandering of fear because it restores trust in what is constant. Salvation is not postponed by circumstances; it is postponed by the mind’s choice to keep condemnation. Forgiveness removes that postponement by accepting a truer perception in the present.
Reflect
Where are you postponing forgiveness, and what do you imagine delay gives you that peace would take away?
Practice
Think of one person you are “not ready” to forgive. Say: “I am willing now.” Then ask: “What is the delay protecting?” Offer that protection-plan to the Holy Spirit and let one quiet thought of blessing replace it.
