Understand the Motifs

Projection: The misuse of mind’s creative power of extension in which you attempt to disown content within yourself and place it outside, making the world appear to be the cause of your inner condition rather than its effect.

Judgment: The process of perception that selects, compares, and evaluates: a habit of the separated mind that is incompatible with vision and that rests always on the false premise that the past determines reality.

T-31.VII The Savior’s Vision acim.org/acim/en

Savior’s vision is learned by withdrawing judgment through forgiveness, choosing again against temptation, and letting shared salvation reveal innocence beyond bodies.

As you read, notice how the themes Projection and Judgment appear in this section.

Reflect

Where do I distrust goodness and look for hidden motives because I still fear what is hidden in my own mind?

Where does distrust feel so justified that you still want a good-or-bad verdict more than you want meaning given by the Holy Spirit?

Practice

Choose one person you tend to distrust. For thirty seconds, deliberately assume innocence and sincerity. Say: I am willing to see you in likeness to the Christ. Holy Spirit, let my suspicion be replaced by trust.

Bring one person or situation you distrust to mind. For one minute, give up the need to decide whether it is good or bad. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal its meaning, and rest without a verdict.
