Understand the Motifs

Joining: The recognition that minds are already united and separation is an illusion, requiring only that you release the space you have maintained between yourself and your brother to realize the wholeness that was never broken.

Sin / Error: The critical distinction between a mistake that can be corrected and a permanent act that cannot. The ego insists on perceiving sins to preserve itself, while the Holy Spirit sees only a single error calling for correction.

T-21.VI Reason versus Madness acim.org/acim/en

Reason (right-mindedness) exposes the ego’s madness of private sin and bodily separation, and restores joining—where correction, miracles, and salvation are shared instantly through choosing again.

As you read, notice how the themes Joining and Sin / Error appear in this section.

Reflect

What private thought do I still protect, and what fear arises when I remember that joined minds cannot keep guilt or blessing to themselves?

When I accuse someone of sin, what call for love am I refusing to hear?

Practice

Name one thought you would rather keep hidden—resentment, shame, or superiority. Offer it to the Holy Spirit with the willingness that its correction blesses both you and your brother. Let the idea that thoughts aren’t private loosen the grip of secrecy for one minute.

In one grievance, translate your accusation into “A call for help is being made.” Offer your judgment to the Holy Spirit and ask to see innocence instead of sin, even if only a little.
