Understand the Motif
Time: An illusion made with the separation and used by the ego for delay, holding the past over the future and postponing the one decision that would end it. The Holy Spirit uses time only to make time unnecessary through the miracle and the holy instant.
Time: Only eternity is real, and time contradicts it. The entire span of time occurred in a single tiny instant that was immediately answered by God’s Correction, making all of time already over. What feels like living through time is the mind reviewing what has already gone by, and it reviews by choice: the instant it chooses against joining, it chooses time again. The ego uses time to compound guilt and preserve the past by making it determine the future—and above all to delay, since staying inside the review is how it avoids the one decision that would end time. Delay is a choice rather than a fact, and it survives by looking reasonable: postponement passes for patience, and a grievance held passes for discernment. The Holy Spirit uses time to render the need for time unnecessary, emphasizing the present as the only aspect that extends to the infinite. The miracle collapses intervals of learning, which shortens time, and the holy instant stands outside time entirely, free of past and future.
Notice the Shift
When it comes to readiness, right-mindedness invites you to shift:
Consider the Context
Season and right time have no meaning in eternity, yet the mind still experiences calendars and milestones. This stop shows how that experience can serve either delay or joining. With the ego as teacher, time becomes an excuse: union is postponed. With the Holy Spirit as Teacher, the same season is repurposed for a present shift.
A familiar celebration is reinterpreted as a chance to accept your own rebirth through the Holy Spirit. The time of Christ is tied to joining, and it has no meaning if you are apart. That makes the lesson pointed: the time of Christ can be now—not by waiting for a better future, but by letting one perception change in the present.
The ego is skilled at using time’s symbols to reinforce separation. Holidays, anniversaries, and seasons can become containers for nostalgia, pressure, and comparison—proof that something was lost, or that something must happen later. In that use, time becomes a refined form of delay: you wait for the right season to forgive, to love, or to join.
This stop reclaims the symbol without making it literal. It acknowledges that time and season have no meaning in eternity, which means no calendar can tell you when truth becomes true. And yet, while you still seem to live by dates, the Holy Spirit can use them. He does not use them to postpone; He uses them to invite a present acceptance.
The central pivot is the idea of rebirth. Rebirth is not an event that happens to the body at a certain time. It is a change of teacher in the mind. Rebirth means letting the old purpose—specialness, sacrifice, being right—be replaced by joining. That is why the time of Christ is linked with togetherness. Christ is not a private achievement. When you accept your brother’s innocence, you accept your own.
Notice how this undermines the ego’s use of celebration. The ego can celebrate separation: special days that elevate some and exclude others. The Holy Spirit turns celebration into inclusion: a shared joy that has meaning only because it reflects what is timeless. So the lesson is not to wait until circumstances feel spiritual. The lesson is to let the Holy Spirit reinterpret the season you are already in—whatever it is—so that it becomes a present invitation to join.
If you catch yourself thinking, “I’ll be ready later,” use this stop as a correction. The time of Christ is not later. It is the instant you choose again and let joining be your purpose.
Reflect
Where do I use timing or season as an excuse to postpone joining, instead of letting rebirth be a present change of purpose?
Practice
Pick one date, season, or milestone that carries emotional weight. Offer it to the Holy Spirit for reinterpretation. Then choose one person to include in your mind with a quiet blessing, as a present sign of rebirth.
