T-5.VI Time and Eternity acim.org/acim/en

Time is exposed as delay upheld by guilt, while the Holy Spirit reinterprets judgment, dismisses the inner case, and restores joining in the timeless Kingdom.

Recognize What's Happening Beneath

Underneath the discussion of time sits the ego’s bargain: if healing must take a long time, the mind never has to question the value it still assigns to guilt. Continuity becomes evidence that the story is real—past causes present, future will punish—so separation can feel stable.

The deeper correction is to withdraw belief from the entire courtroom system at once. When guilt is brought to the Holy Spirit, projection no longer needs a target, fear no longer needs a future, and joining becomes natural because nothing is being defended. The Holy Instant is simply the moment the mind stops delaying innocence.

Reflect

Where does guilt still convince you that more time is needed before peace is deserved?

Practice

Bring a recurring guilt thought to mind and say: I do not need more time. I need a different purpose. Let infinite patience replace self-punishment for one quiet minute.
