The Rewards of God

Understand the Motif

Teaching–Learning: The reciprocal process through which what is taught is learned by the teacher, and what is learned shapes both mind and world, making teaching and learning an inescapable responsibility and power.

Notice the Shift

When it comes to learning’s witness, right-mindedness invites you to shift:

Release suffering and pain
Recognize joy and alignment

Consider the Context

Teaching–learning is framed as retraining through outcomes. The mind has taught itself that misery goes with the ego and distrust goes with peace, so the curriculum must be reversed. Learning through pain is exposed as ineffective because pain is part of the ego’s illusion and can only produce temporary compliance. Real change comes through a different reward: the unmistakable relief that follows a right-minded choice.

This stop also makes teaching active. You are asked to live in a way that demonstrates you are not an ego. Your life becomes a lesson—not to persuade anyone, but to show your own mind which teacher you value. Joy is therefore not a reward for effort; it is the evidence that you stopped teaching yourself fear. When you notice even a small lift, let it confirm that you chose the right guide.

Reflect

What do I treat as “proof” that I made the right choice—being right, or feeling at peace?

Practice

Recall one recent choice that left you tense. Revisit it for thirty seconds and ask: “What reward was I seeking?” Then choose one small alternative response today that aims for peace, and notice the different outcome it teaches you.
