Understand the Motif

Attack: All attack is ultimately self-attack, arising from the perception of separation and guilt. Because the mind cannot actually be damaged or divided, attack has no real effects.

Reflect

How would I relate to today’s conflicts if I truly believed that what God creates cannot be attacked or changed?

Consider the Context

The motif is lifted to a more metaphysical view. Attack is named as an impulse of a split mind—an attempt to oppose its own creations. Yet the teaching insists that such “attack” cannot actually affect what is created. The seeming drama belongs to the dream, not to reality.

This is not meant to deny your experience of conflict; it is meant to put it in its proper level. If what God creates cannot be harmed, then exile, loss, and destruction are not facts—they are perceptions made meaningful by the ego’s interpretation. That recognition is deeply calming. It gives you permission to stop treating attack thoughts as ultimate truth and to let forgiveness undo them. When you remember that reality is safe, you are less tempted to defend yourself with more attack.
