T-23.II The Laws of Chaos acim.org/acim/en

The ego’s laws of chaos are unmasked as separation’s logic—sin, punishment, scarcity, and attack—so you can choose the Holy Spirit’s correction and return to peace.

Recognize What's Happening Beneath

Underneath the dramatic laws is a single defense: keep guilt unquestioned by making it uncorrectable. The ego’s strategy is to relocate cause outside the mind (someone else stole your good), then insist that the only remedy is attack, punishment, and sacrifice—thus preserving the belief in separation while hiding the original decision for it.

The deeper invitation is to withdraw that faith. When you stop granting reality to appearances and look at purpose instead, the whole structure loosens: error can be corrected, love is not endangered, and God does not need to be remade in the ego’s image. Peace becomes the honest measure of which teacher you are listening to, and joining becomes the natural expression of remembering that salvation is shared.

Reflect

Which ego law am I obeying right now as if it were basic realism rather than a counterfeit of truth?

Practice

In your next upset, ask which chaos-law is operating—private truth, justified attack, taking as gain, or fear as wisdom. Name it gently and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the opposite law of peace.
