Understand the Motifs
Healing: The release from fear and the restoration of wholeness to the mind when the belief in separation is corrected and right perception is restored.
Healing: Healing follows correction at the level of mind where the error was made. The miracle is the means; healing is its result. It is not the resolution of symptoms: the world expects the body to certify that something has changed, but any shift in form is secondary and never the measure, and a mind can be healed while the form stays the same. Sickness arises when the mind believes itself to be separate and attacks itself, which the body may or may not display; healing comes when minds are joined in the recognition of their oneness. It requires no special ability but only the willingness to let go of the past and see your brother as guiltless, which shows you your own innocence. Healing is feared for what it removes, since a body in pain can serve as evidence against a brother, against God, against life, and correction takes that evidence away. The Holy Spirit’s only response to any illness or pain is healing, and He makes the means clear: join with your brother in the recognition that what seemed to separate you was never real.
Miracle: A correction of perception that expresses love and works at the level of mind, where the mistake was made. It demonstrates that what can change was never real, and what is real cannot change.
Miracle: The miracle is an effect of choosing correctly, and because love has no degrees, miracles have no order of difficulty: the correction is the same in every case. Nor can a miracle be received alone, since the healing occurs in the joined mind rather than in separate bodies, and the one who offers it is released with the one who receives it. Because the correction is made at the level of cause, the miracle collapses time: it substitutes for learning that would otherwise take years, so that the long paths through time the ego prefers become unnecessary. Miracles undo what was never truly made by showing that misperception has no real foundation. They remove the obstruction so truth can be what it always was.

T-28.II Reversing Effect and Cause acim.org/acim/en
Reversing cause and effect returns every symptom and grievance to the mind’s teacher-choice, where the miracle replaces fear with healing, and salvation unwinds the dream of separation.
As you read, notice how the themes Healing and Miracle appear in this section.
Consider Healing
Cause and effect are put back in order. Healing is located where innocence is—in the mind—rather than in the body or in external limitation. When you assign causation to form, you end up chasing effects and calling them problems.
This section points to one Cause with one true Effect. Within perception, the Holy Spirit teaches a dream of healing as an alternative to the dream of death. The miracle is the exchange that trains you to see differently, so the mind stops producing sickness as an effect of guilt. Any bodily improvement is treated as secondary: it can reflect the change, but the change begins where cause actually is—your choice of teacher in the mind.
Consider Miracle
Here the miracle becomes the first real reversal of the dream's logic. It does not wake the mind all the way to Knowledge, but it shows that the dream content is not the truth and that the dreamer, not the scene, is where correction belongs. This matters because fear is usually pinned on bodies, events, and enemies. The miracle returns the supposed cause to the mind that made the interpretation, and in doing so it loosens the dream's effects. Forgiving perception becomes possible. Attack can be exchanged for a gentler dream, and bodily distress is re-seen as an effect of mind rather than an independent fact.
Reflect
Where do I keep treating an effect—symptom, mood, situation—as the cause of my distress, and what happens when I return cause to my mind and choose again?
When fear flares, what happens if you shift attention from the scene that frightens you to the mind that is dreaming it and asking what meaning it assigned?
Practice
Choose one situation you blame. Say: I have reversed cause and effect. Holy Spirit, show me the cause in my mind and give me a new effect. Breathe slowly for three breaths and watch the tension lessen.
Pick one fear today and say: "This effect is not its own cause." Then ask the Holy Spirit to exchange the fearful reading for a forgiving one, and notice what softens first.
