T-15.IX The Holy Instant and the Attraction of God acim.org/acim/en

The Holy Instant undoes body-based limits by accepting the Holy Spirit’s vision, restoring communication as joining and letting God’s Love outweigh guilt and time.

Recognize What's Happening Beneath

Under these themes lies a single question: what do you want relationship to protect—separation or joining? The ego treats limits as safety, so it makes bodies and private interests seem essential, then calls the resulting constriction “love.” The Holy Spirit reverses the logic by returning cause to mind: nothing outside you can imprison you without your consent to a meaning.

Seen this way, the Holy Instant is not a mystical peak to chase, but a willingness to stop defending a private interpretation. As you let communication become openness, you discover that what seemed like your own perception was a choice of teacher. Forgiveness, then, is correction at the level of purpose—letting symbols point beyond themselves—until vision naturally leads past itself into quiet certainty.

Reflect

When you look for closeness or safety, where do you still seek it in bodies and history, and what changes if you ask the Holy Spirit for vision instead?

Practice

For a few breaths, set aside every body-label you use for yourself and another. Ask the Holy Spirit for a moment of shared vision—light instead of history—and rest in that simplicity.
