Skim the Surface
T-18.VI Beyond the Body acim.org/acim/en
The body is unmasked as a scapegoat for guilt and separation, while the Holy Spirit reinterprets it as a neutral means for joining, love, and the Holy Instant.
Recognize What's Happening Beneath
Underneath the focus on bodies is a more private fear: fear of union. The ego protects a sense of a separate self by insisting that boundaries are real, and it offers special bonds as a dream of freedom that keeps salvation tied to form.
The correction offered is modest but uncompromising: notice the instant you want the body to carry guilt or deliver safety, and choose again. As willingness replaces bargaining in time, love becomes less a changing feeling and more a stable reinterpretation—shared, inclusive, and beyond attack.
Reflect
What complaints against the body are really attempts to put guilt somewhere else?
Practice
Notice one recurring bodily grievance, fear, or self-attack. Instead of following the complaint, ask what guilt or blame you are trying to place there. Let the Holy Spirit undo the scapegoat function.
