T-14.IV Your Function in the Atonement acim.org/acim/en
Your function is to make Atonement visible by seeing your brother guiltless, choosing the Holy Spirit’s interpretation, and letting forgiveness undo guilt until perception yields to knowledge.
Recognize What's Happening Beneath
Under every instruction is a quiet exposure of what the ego protects: guilt as proof that separation is real and that you are on your own. That is why strain, urgency, and private certainty are treated as clues—signs that authorship has been claimed again and a different Teacher is needed.
The correction is gentle and uncompromising: you do not fix guilt by improving the story, and you do not reach knowledge by sharpening perception. You choose again at the level of purpose, let innocence be the standard of vision, and allow what is already given to be received.
Reflect
Who is the brother through whom I can make Atonement visible by granting guiltlessness right now?
Practice
Pick one person you have judged today. Say silently, “I grant you guiltlessness.” For one minute, notice any resistance, then invite the Holy Spirit to reinterpret it as a call for forgiveness as correction.
