T-12.VIII The Attraction of Love for Love acim.org/acim/en
Two attractions are exposed: the ego’s pull toward attack and separation, and Love’s pull toward itself, restored through the Holy Spirit’s reinterpretation.
Recognize What's Happening Beneath
What looks like attraction at the level of form is exposed as a decision about identity. The ego’s attraction to attack is the attempt to preserve a self-concept built on separation; it even recruits time, distraction, and private judgment to keep the story going.
The deeper correction is not self-improvement but relinquishment: letting the Holy Spirit reinterpret desire itself. When the wish to author reality is brought to the light, the mind learns a different habit—peace—because it remembers what is already true, and relationships become witnesses to shared innocence rather than arenas for defense.
Reflect
Where do I still believe sharing will diminish rather than reveal Love?
Practice
Choose one quiet act of sharing today—a listening moment, a blessing, or a released grievance. Let it be an experiment in discovering Love rather than spending it.
