Finding the Present

Understand the Motif

Miracle: A correction of perception that expresses love and works at the level of mind, where the mistake was made. It demonstrates that what can change was never real, and what is real cannot change.

Sit with This Teaching

Miracles collapse time by substituting for learning that could otherwise take ages. Accepting correction now stops paying interest on the past. Seeing your brother without his past is concrete instruction: releasing his story releases yours.

Consider the Context

The miracle is described here as an intervention in time. It breaks the habit of lining up the future with the past, which is how grievances keep repeating themselves. Functionally, the miracle lets you see your brother without his history, so his errors stay where they belong—in the past. The striking claim is that this release benefits you equally, because the past you hold against him is also the past you hold in your own mind. Planning the future from old judgments blocks the intervention; accepting the miracle restores a present in which both of you can be born again in perception.
