The Test of Truth

Understand the Motif

Peace: An attribute of God that is your natural inheritance as spirit: a state where the mind stops warring with itself and becomes quiet enough to remember God and know itself.

Sit with This Teaching

Peace becomes a gentle test: if fear is present, you have not accepted truth as your Teacher. But peace is not avoidance—it is not the mind that says “I’m fine” while secretly seething. It comes from looking at the thought you don’t want to look at and letting it be corrected. Forced peace is brittle; genuine peace requires contact with what you’ve denied.

Consider the Context

Peace is presented as a usable criterion for truth. If fear is absent and others share in your peace, you can be sure you have learned God’s lesson. Peace is not treated as a private mood; it is something that naturally extends and is witnessed by its effects.

Disturbance becomes equally instructive. If peace feels threatened, the unit treats that as a sign that you are relying on past learning or the ego’s teacher. The remedy is to step back from interpretation so peace can return. Peace and understanding are described as inseparable—each one evidences the other as a law of God.
