T-15.XI Christmas as the End of Sacrifice acim.org/acim/en

Christmas becomes a symbol of the Holy Instant: joining with the Holy Spirit ends the ego’s bargain of sacrifice, and love returns as shared peace, not costly payment.

Fear: The emotion of separation: the anticipation of punishment that guilt makes inevitable. Fear is what keeps the ego’s thought system from being looked at, and it is sustained only by the belief that attack and guilt are real.

Notice the Ego's Pattern

Fear is traced here to the sacrifice idea’s most familiar effect: what you exclude from yourself appears outside as something to fear. When inner separation is chosen, even God and your brothers can seem like threatening figures, and self-protection becomes the guiding impulse.

This stop contrasts that with the safety of welcoming holiness within. Nothing out there needs to be managed when nothing is being cast out. Joining and peace, not defensive exclusion, are presented as the practical end of fear. Fear lessens as you stop defending exclusion and let the relationship serve peace.

Reflect

What quality do I exile from myself and then fear when I see it in others?

Practice

Notice one person or situation you label as threatening. Ask what you are casting out. Offer that exclusion to the Holy Spirit and practice welcoming it back in a gentle, non-judging way.

Love: Love is the one real emotion: all-encompassing, changeless, and the fundamental power of creation that extends itself infinitely. It cannot be learned, only recognized and allowed.

Receive the Correction

Christmas is used as a teaching symbol for ending sacrifice. The point is not a holiday mood; it is the recognition that when pain and deprivation are removed from your idea of love, Love must still remain. If love disappears when sacrifice stops, then what you called love was a bargain.

The holy instant is presented as the condition where Love is met because minds join without using the body to negotiate. Peace and true communication follow from that joining. The immediate application is direct: demand no sacrifice from anyone, including yourself.

Reflect

Where do I still believe someone must pay a price for love to be real?

Practice

Pick one relationship thought that demands sacrifice. Offer it to the Holy Spirit and ask for a different purpose: joining without payment. Take a few breaths and let yourself feel what peace is like when no debt is being collected.
