Understand the Motif
Sinlessness: The true and unchangeable state of the Son of God: a permanent fact of creation that can never be altered by what the Son believes about himself. Because it is already true, nothing needs to be paid for or redeemed by suffering, and the chain from sin to guilt to punishment has nothing to rest on.
Sinlessness: Sinlessness is the condition of absolute wholeness, free of sin, pain, and suffering—the only state God’s Son was ever created to be and the only state he is now. While guilt persists in consciousness, this truth remains obscured; yet nothing the Son has done or could do would change what God knows him to be. The belief in sin is baseless because sin would require that reality itself be violable, that God could be made incomplete, and that the eternal could become temporal. Sinlessness is a state to be recognized, the natural consequence of abandoning the desire to attack.
Notice the Shift
When it comes to the brother, right-mindedness invites you to shift:
Consider the Context
Vision is emphasized as a gift: sinlessness is presented as already given, shining to be looked on with the Holy Spirit. The emphasis on shared desire matters—you and your brother want the same thing at the level of truth, even when the ego argues otherwise. Seeing the brother as sinless is linked with joy and with the dawning awareness of Christ, while valuing the body keeps the relationship bound to illusion. This stop also widens the frame: the world of sin, death, and attack is called a hallucination, not a reality that competes with holiness. Sinlessness therefore becomes both relational sight and metaphysical correction—there is no other identity worth seeking beyond what God gave His Son.
Reflect
What do I still hope the body will prove for me, and how does that hope keep sinlessness out of sight?
Practice
Close your eyes and picture one brother in gentle light. Say: “Holy Spirit, help me value this light more than any image.” Let the urge to judge pass without feeding it, and notice any hint of joy.
