Understand the Motif
Changelessness: The defining property of reality itself: what is real cannot change, and whatever changes is illusion, while truth, love, and the Son of God remain eternally constant and inviolable.
Changelessness: Changelessness is the ontological foundation distinguishing reality from appearance. God, His creations, His laws, and His Love are eternal and unchangeable; all change belongs only to the temporal world of form and illusion. The Son of God cannot sin because sin would require change to the real, which is impossible; guilt cannot alter what God created. This is not a reason to look away from what you feel; because nothing real was altered, the changing perceptions can be looked at honestly without being taken as final. In the midst of a world of constant flux, there remains a changeless dwelling place within you—the altar of God, untouched by time or separation, where His thought of you shines eternally.

T-28.I The Present Memory · Paragraphs 8-9, 14 acim.org/acim/en
The remembered Cause never left; its changeless Effects are still here.
As you read, notice how the theme Changelessness appears in these paragraphs.
Consider the Context
The motif shifts into cause-and-effect. The Holy Spirit remembers a Cause that never changed and was never absent, so its Effects only seem new because the mind forgot their Source. Changelessness describes both: the Cause remains forever present, and the Son—its Effect—remains changeless and perfect, beyond fear and the world of sin. This framing undercuts the belief that time accumulates consequences. The ego says the longer you have erred, the heavier the results. Changelessness says the opposite: what is real cannot intensify into threat, because it has not changed at all. Remembering the Cause in the present is what releases the mind from fear’s story of growing danger.
Reflect
What fear story assumes time can build consequences, instead of recognizing an Effect that never changed?
Practice
When you catch yourself thinking ‘it’s getting worse,’ pause. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember the Cause that never changed. Let yourself consider: God’s Effect cannot intensify into fear.
