Understand the Motifs

Forgiveness: Forgiveness is the release of guilt through the recognition that what seemed to be sin never actually occurred: looking beyond error rather than making it real and then pardoning it.

Giving / Receiving: In spirit, giving and receiving are identical—what you extend from your mind remains in your mind and is strengthened by being shared, so to withhold anything is to lose it to yourself.

Salvation is remembered by forgiving illusions about the body, letting vision and love replace judgment, so giving and receiving become one and the dream grows gentle through joining.

As you read, notice how the themes Forgiveness and Giving / Receiving appear in this section.

Reflect

Where am I still trying to awaken privately, without letting a brother’s innocence witness to mine?

Where do I wait to feel certain before I extend salvation, and what doubt do I keep alive by holding the gift private?

Practice

Picture one person whose drama fills your mind. Ask to see the light behind the drama instead. Let that light be a shared gift, and rest with the feeling of mutual release.

Pick one brother and give one act of salvation now: withdraw one judgment and offer one thought of release. Don’t look for dramatic feelings; let the act be your proof. Notice how a small increase in confidence follows as soon as you share the gift.
