Skim the Surface
T-4.I Right Teaching and Right Learning acim.org/acim/en
Right teaching becomes a shared undoing of hierarchy: learning accepts change, releases ego defenses and specialness, and returns the mind to peace, joining, and God’s changeless certainty.
Recognize What's Happening Beneath
Underneath the roles of teacher and student sits a deeper question of identity and Source. The ego tries to turn learning into self-authorship—proving worth through roles, outcomes, and status—so teaching becomes a stage for specialness and guarded defenses.
Right learning undoes that premise by relocating value where it belongs: received from God, not manufactured. As the mind accepts changelessness and rests in stillness, the pull toward body-identity and temptation is treated with gentleness rather than drama, and relationships are repurposed as classrooms for joining and shared release.
Reflect
When I try to “teach” someone, what do I want to prove about me or about them?
Practice
In your next conversation, notice any urge to correct or impress. Pause internally and ask: “Can this be a shared lesson instead?” Let your tone and listening communicate equality, even if no words about spirituality are spoken.
