T-8.VII The Body as a Means of Communication acim.org/acim/en

Let the Holy Spirit assign purpose, and the body becomes a communication link—ending separation as joining and healing replace the ego’s use of form.

Recognize What's Happening Beneath

The deeper issue is not what the body does, but what you think it is for. The ego tries to make the body an end—proof of a private self—and then uses attack, judgment, and sickness as evidence that separation is real. The section quietly reverses that logic: these effects point back to a split purpose in the mind, not to a problem in form.

Practically, this becomes an honesty practice about motive. When you notice mistrust, irritation, or the urge to condemn, you are being shown a purpose-choice that can be brought to the Holy Spirit. Choosing again is the undoing of projection and its results, because communication—shared content and shared purpose—is how wholeness is remembered.

Reflect

How am I using the body right now: to get, defend, hide, or communicate?

Practice

Take ten quiet breaths and ask this one question about your body in the present moment: what is it for? Do not judge the answer. Offer the purpose you find to the Holy Spirit for reinterpretation.
