The Happy Learner

Happiness comes as the mind chooses the Holy Spirit’s curriculum—releasing idols and needs, accepting changeless truth, and learning with a brother through joining, vision, and giving-and-receiving.

From the Motifs’ Teachings

From each motif's Teachings, the teachings and reversals that draw on this section, in the order of the motifs' salience here. Many draw on other sections too, listed beneath them.

Teachings Drawn from This Section

  1. Teaching–Learning. Self-teaching is a learning handicap—the ego’s goal is not truly to learn but to preserve itself. You are asked to resign as your own teacher and let a different Teacher set the goal. Knowledge cannot be taught, but the conditions that allow recognition can. The happy learner appears when the past curriculum is given to the Holy Spirit and you begin again from a firm foundation.

  2. Illusions. Illusions appear as elaborate architectures made of nothing—grand halls and locked doors that impress you because you forgot you built them. You don’t need to map every corridor; you only need to accept you’re walking through a construction. Truth remains wholly true regardless of what you made.

  3. Giving / Receiving. Giving becomes the means of receiving because giving is the way you accept what was given to you in the first place. You are not asked to create love; you are asked to stop blocking awareness of it. The correction happens at the level of meaning; helpful forms can follow but are not the measure.
