Above the Battleground
The section lifts the mind above conflict by exposing attack’s hidden purpose and offering the miracle—chosen again with the Holy Spirit—as the content of peace, joining, and safety.

Teachings Drawn from This Section
-
Attack. At the arc’s peak, the Course takes you above the battleground to recognize attack as the single content behind every conflict. Every form hurts equally because purpose never changes. Refusing to forgive functions as attack; partial forgiveness is continuing assault dressed as moderation.
-
Miracle. The miracle is framed as the clear alternative to attack: from above the battleground, the choice is between destruction and forgiveness. Choosing the miracle is a change of purpose from hurting to healing—the direct undoing of specialness, which threatens illusion, not anything real.
-
Fear of God. The ego warns that if you look within, God will punish you—anything to keep you from discovering there is no sin. The loud threat is a cover story; the deeper fear is innocence. Fear of God is redefined as fear of life, not fear of death. God is the only place of safety because there is no attack in Him.
