The Separation and the Atonement
Separation is traced to the mind’s choice to project fear rather than extend love, and Atonement is presented as the only defense that cannot become attack. Healing is redefined as release from fear, grounded in returning cause to the mind rather than the body. The miracle worker’s function becomes choosing right-mindedness, letting the Holy Spirit correct perception so fear loosens and form falls back into service. Even the Last Judgment is reframed as healing: right-minded evaluation that undoes projected condemnation.
Sections in this Chapter
By contrasting Love’s extension with the ego’s self-authored dream of separation, this section shows how projection breeds fear—and how miracles return the mind to peace.
Atonement reframes defense: rooted in Love, it is the only protection that cannot become attack, shortening time through miracles that undo fear and restore joining.
Turning the altar inward, the teaching presents Atonement as the only defense, undoing separation by releasing body-based protection and delay, and letting the Holy Spirit’s vision restore peace.
Healing is redefined as release from fear, grounded in Atonement and expressed through miracles, while the body, sickness, and magic are seen as effects of false causality.
The miracle worker’s function is choosing right-minded Atonement, letting the Holy Spirit correct perception so fear loosens and body, time, and form fall back into service.
Fear is reframed as the strain of a divided goal, undone by choosing again at the mind level and letting the Holy Spirit’s Atonement reinterpret everything as love.
Cause is returned to the mind: fear is recognized as self-made, and miracles, vigilance, and Atonement train a shift from separation to Love’s shared wholeness.
Last Judgment is reframed as healing: right-minded evaluation of what you have made, undoing projected condemnation, and letting miracles shorten time until love and peace extend.
