Salvation is remembered when the mind stops bargaining with attack—seeing that no form can hide its content—and chooses forgiveness as the only means to peace.

Attack. At the arc’s peak, the Course takes you above the battleground to recognize attack as the single content behind every conflict. Every form hurts equally because purpose never changes. Refusing to forgive functions as attack; partial forgiveness is continuing assault dressed as moderation.

Salvation. Salvation cannot be compromised. You cannot keep a small corner of attack and still know peace—if attack is kept, salvation would inherit the ego’s violence. Specialness is the wish for different laws for you, a solo rescue preserving distance. The brother holds the key to Heaven; the idol of specialness cannot save you both. The real question is whether you want to see your brother innocent. Salvation is the decision to let innocence be what you look upon.

Form—Content. When the Text turns to the laws of chaos, form is where the ego hides. Chaos depends on emphasizing form and ignoring content. A lovely wrapping does not make an empty gift real. Rising above the battleground, the clash of forms becomes meaningless: the battle was never about bodies and behaviors but about purposes.
