Teachings Drawn from This Section

  1. Decision. The Course warns against deciding upon form—the ego wants guaranteed outcomes. Instead: choose peace first and let everything else follow. The rules for decision are a protocol for uncertainty: admit you have been deciding alone, step back from the ego’s urgency, and ask for direction.

  2. Willingness. Near the end, willingness becomes ordinary: a daily decision method, rules for decision you can use on a Tuesday afternoon. When resistance is strong, return to the day you want to have, admit you do not like what you feel, allow the small hope you have been wrong, and ask for another way. The ego keeps trying to convert willingness into performance; the Course keeps refusing: a little willingness is enough, and you are not asked to purify it.
