Teachings Drawn from This Section

  1. Ego. The ego learns to wear spiritual clothing—talking about forgiveness, love, and healing while keeping its goal intact. Forgiveness becomes superiority; helping becomes a way to get. Grandiosity swings with vulnerability. Even empathy is recruited—joining in suffering to bond through shared pain rather than joining in willingness to let pain be undone.

  2. Sacrifice. Learning does not require pain, and martyrdom is not a curriculum. Yet even when you agree with the correction, release may still feel like sacrifice—the ego confuses pain and joy, mistakes release for loss. Following the Holy Spirit can seem like giving up the ego’s satisfactions. The real sacrifice—the one you hardly notice—is accepting a diminished self as safety, settling for littleness when magnitude is what you are.

  3. Faith. Faith becomes tied to the choice of teacher. You don’t just have beliefs; you have a guide you obey, and you obey the guide you trust. A split mind needs vigilance—the uneasy guarding of someone who doesn’t fully believe what they’re protecting. Withdrawing faith from distortions is not a warm feeling; it is a decision to stop underwriting what hurts you.

  4. Projection. Anger is exposed as a strategy: you project separation outward and blame a brother for it, then expect retaliation from the outside because that is where you located your own attack. Projection becomes an engine of coercion—even God can be recruited into the drama. Trust collapses because the mind that believes betrayal is possible expects betrayal everywhere.
