The Attraction of Love for Love

Two attractions are exposed: the ego’s pull toward attack and separation, and Love’s pull toward itself, restored through the Holy Spirit’s reinterpretation.

From the Motifs’ Teachings

From each motif's Teachings, the teachings and reversals that draw on this section, in the order of the motifs' salience here. Many draw on other sections too, listed beneath them.

Teachings Drawn from This Section

  1. Memory of God. The Memory of God cannot be obliterated, only denied. It cannot dawn in a mind devoted to control—being its own author, its own god. The instruction is disarmingly simple: ask, and relinquish the drive to manage outcomes. Underneath all substitute desires, what you are really waiting for is God.

  2. Illusions. The familiar world is called what it is: a construction marked by decay and death, unable to shelter you from guilt or prove separation safe. The real world enters as perception corrected—still within the dream but without the ego’s purpose. The exchange required is absurdly small: willingness to learn that what you made is false.

  3. Real World. You attack the Real World—that is why it seems hidden. The ego experiences forgiven perception as a threat to the entire structure built on guilt. The correction is not to wrestle the ego down but to receive the Real World from Christ, letting a different Teacher reinterpret what you are looking at. When love is the lens, nothingness becomes hard to see.
