The Only Answer

The ego’s questions and defenses keep separation real, while the Holy Spirit’s Answer restores certainty by returning cause to the mind and reuniting perception with Love’s changeless reality.

Teachings Drawn from This Section

  1. Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not command. The ego’s voice is loud, urgent, argumentative; the Holy Spirit is quiet, steady, unhurried—peace as a tone, not passivity. Guidance corrects the purpose you bring to outcomes, not the form of outcomes themselves, which is why the ego’s demand for a fortune-teller is always disappointed.

  2. Dream. The dream turns out to be the entire perceptual condition—whether your eyes are open or closed. Separation is a chosen sleep, and time is the stage where dreams keep finding new costumes. Perception follows the teacher you choose; the scenes are effects of a decision, not the source of it.

  3. Defenses. The body is recruited as the ego’s favorite building material. If the body is made the cause of pain, the mind’s decision-making stays out of sight. Symptoms become witnesses for vulnerability, justifying the campaign to prove separation is real.

  4. Right-mindedness. The Holy Spirit is placed in the right mind, and Christ thinking appears as universal Inspiration—guidance that cannot be privately possessed. The ego’s guidance is loud because it must convince; the Holy Spirit’s is quiet because it does not argue. The right mind sees only brothers, refuses competition, and accepts that its will cannot outrun God’s—making genuine asking possible without bargaining or martyrdom.
